F9 Equine Clinic was established in May of 2009. The “F9” comes from an old family brand. Although Dr. Fitzgerald grew up in the Houston area, his ancestors have deep roots in Colorado County. In 1824, his grandfather’s great-grandfather, Abraham Alley, came to Texas from Missouri with Stephen F. Austin and settled near the present day town of Columbus, TX. Part of the original Alley homestead has survived the generations and marriages and is today known as the Fitzgerald Ranch. It is the time spent on this land that helped to shape Dr. Fitzgerald’s career goals. He has always wanted to return the family to the Columbus area so he could raise his children on or near the ranch. The F9 brand was first registered in Colorado County in 1860.

Eventually, Lorretta had to leave all that behind as her parents took on new ventures in Pennsylvania. That is when Lorretta started to change her attention from horses to the world of art. Lorretta excelled in many mediums; including: pencil sketching, painting, photography, and silversmithing.

After high school, Lorretta met her soon to be husband, Dustin, while he was stationed as a Marine in Maryland. She followed Dustin to his home state of Texas and married in 2005. Lorretta’s love of animals brought her back into the world of veterinary medicine as she pursued her career a small animal vet tech in Boerne, Tx. Lorretta remained as a vet tech until becoming a stay at home mom in 2011. Lorretta and Dustin have 3 children and reside in La Grange. Now that the children are all in school, Lorretta is happy to be back to helping the animals she loves! Lorretta is pleased to have joined the F9 Equine family in August 2019. While not at work, Lorretta still loves to get creative through various mediums of art and passing her love of art onto her children.
