Buying a horse is a considerable investment. A purchase exam is designed with the buyer in mind. This is the most comprehensive examination a veterinarian can offer and is intended to give the buyer the most information possible to aid in the decision making process.

F9 Equine offers comprehensive purchase examinations custom tailored to the needs of the buyer. All purchase examinations include an in-depth physical examination and current soundness evaluation. Depending on the needs of the buyer, other services are available, including:
Radiographs
Upper airway endoscopy
Bloodwork (complete blood count and blood chemistry panel)
Reproductive evaluation
Genetic testing (for HYPP, HERDA, and others)
Drug screens

Sometimes radiography, ultrasonography, and flexible endoscopy aren’t enough to diagnose your horse’s problem. Nuclear scintigraphy (bone scan), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and other imaging modalities are often used when we are still looking for answers. Our veterinarians will be happy to recommend when these imaging modalities are indicated and can refer you to the appropriate experts.
